Interactive 3D Character Models

Recently, I had an idea to make interactive 3d printed figures, by making a figure with a hollow base in which I could have electronics to light up lights or play sounds with the push of a button. I printed a Mr Game and Watch figure from thingiverse and designed the base, a simple circle with removable bottom and hole for a pushbutton. I also reused my low poly exporting technique that I learned from my Puck project.

I used an ATTiny85 connected to the speaker to make it play a sound when the button was pressed. The sound file was converted to hexidecimal and put into code I got from David Johnson-Davies on his blog here. It uses a USB port for power, as I didn't have any rechargable battery packs small enough to fit in the base. The circuit is simple, consisting of only a pushbutton and a speaker wired up to the ATtiny85's digital IO pins. The rest is handled in the code. Click here to view a video of it working!
